DIPALESENG LOCAL COUNCIL OF STAKEHOLDERS LAUNCHED

On Tuesday, 28 th February 2017, Dipaleseng Local Municipality launched the Local Council of Stakeholders under the Operation Vuka Sisebente programme (OVS) which is a provincially adopted delivery model to be utilized by all stakeholders with a strong base within communities as an extension of the Integrated Services Delivery Model at national level.

This is a provincial programme aimed at closing gaps in terms of service delivery and adopting and integrated approach to services delivery issues and as well coordinated manner of planning as low as ward level.

The ward level the war room structures are already functional with elected members that serve there as the local war rooms were all launched towards the end of 2016 year. Stakeholders from different structures, mostly sector departments within the vicinity, councilors as well as municipal management led by the Acting Municipal Manager, Mr. Sailor Netshivhale were also present at this event.

The Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs was in attendance to facilitate the programme and oversee the launching through sharing information on the council and the linkage between the ward, local and provincial war rooms. In-depth analysis of the programme, terms of references including roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders were clearly outlined by the department.

Community Development Workers (CDW) will be stationed at the local war room offices, one in each ward were community members will have opportunity to walk in to these offices and lodge complaints or report matters of concern. The CDW would record and then correctly channel these complaints to relevant authorities. Follow up on these and produce monthly reports relating to activities of the ward war room. These reports will get escalated to the local war room at municipal level, which is chaired by the Executive Mayor.
